Information

My work within the iBarc Support Unit at iDiv focuses on advancing metabarcoding as a tool to better understand biodiversity patterns and ecological processes across the entire tree of life. I am particularly interested in bridging molecular data and ecological interpretation, especially by improving how we interpret and subsequently quantify community composition and interactions. My research is driven by a strong interest in microbial diversity and the complex interactions that shape ecosystems. In my previous project, I focused on obtaining more accurate quantitative insights into the role of protists as key players in microbial food webs in groundwater systems. Building on this background, I am also engaged in teaching and particularly interested in sharing this knowledge through training and collaborative support, helping researchers across iDiv to integrate metabarcoding and molecular approaches into their biodiversity studies and establish these methods as essential tools in ecological research.
