Topic of interest

The research focus of the Heinzel group is the investigation of the molecular mechanisms of gene regulation, in particular repression of transcription. Defective regulation of genetic programmes is responsible for the development of many diseases, whereby the activation or repression of the respective genes by transcription factors plays a central role.
