New Publication Ernst Haeckel Correspondence Vol. 22

Ernst Haeckel became part of literary, artistic and philosophical networks, as evidenced by his correspondence with Austrian and Swiss partners from August 1894 to August 1914. Alongside Bartholomäus von Carneri, Arnold Dodel-Port, Friedrich Jodl, Ernst Mach and Bertha von Suttner, Marie Eugenie delle Grazie in particular shaped Haeckel's contact with the literature of his time. The letters illustrate the reception of Haeckel's works and show the state of aesthetic and scientific-philosophical education around 1900. The escalating political events in Austria, Switzerland and Germany on the eve of the First World War form the background to the correspondence.
